Playing Field

The Parish Council has been working with the Parish Church Council and Staffordshire County Council to reinstate the access and use of the playing field.  The playing field has now been leased to the Parish Council as at May 2025.

Below are some pictures of how it looked before the Parish Council made improvements from the steps from the top stile down to the stile entrance into the playing field

This is the stile at the top of the steps
This is the current view of the steps from the stile at the top. Yes the steps are there but overgrown with last years vegetation.
This is a close up of the steps near the top
This is a close up of the steps about half way down
This is a view all the way down the steps from near the top. The stone wall on the left is the boundary wall of the Churchyard.
This view is back up the steps. You can just make out some of the steps through the overgrown vegetation and the Church yard boundary wall complete with rusty tin sheets is now on the right. The vegetation will be cleared, the steps tidied and the rusty tin sheets removed.

here is the stile from the churchyard into the playing field. In our project there will no longer be access between the playing field and the Churchyard. The Churchyard will be protected from stray animals and dog walking. The safety fence will end just to the right of the stile and close off the steps and playing field access.
A view from the entrance of the playing field back up towards the old school and the Church itself in the top centre of the picture. The route taken by walkers from the school diagonally across the churchyard can be made out. This will be brought to an end by our project. Only those people visiting the graves will be passing through the old school access route, not users of the playing field.
This picture was taken from just in front of the old school. This is the view of the Church Boundary wall from near the most recently made graves. Our project will significantly improve this aspect.
